There has been another interesting journey for the sounds I now present to you as Neural Paths. They were made between September 30th 2022 and March 24th 2023, using Ibanez 7 string guitar, Arturia synth, voice, Wavepad, Reaper. The main skeletons were made within the first 5 days, and 95% of the pieces were finished before the end of October; then things started getting weird in my brain!
4 and 5 were originally intended to be released as a single 20 minutes 22 seconds piece called 'The Year' on New Year's Eve 2022, but I was right in the middle of an absolute divebomb in confidence for everything, and couldn't let go of it. Even though I knew that track was complete, and it felt like an interesting concept, I still couldn't do it.
Eventually, I had no choice but to let go of that idea once 2023 got swinging. I noticed that it fit well with the other 3 tracks that were in 2 different folders at that time, despite the unexpected instrument, style and mood shift that 'One Year' brings about.
It completed the story and connected everything as a theme relating to the wonders of how the brain makes connections, and my own journey of drink and drug addiction which took the lives of many of my brain cells over a 30 year period, and furthermore my battle for learning Czech and making entirely new kinds of neural links, discovering how strange it is to actually be able to feel the paths form in your brain.
It is also included in the download along with all the artwork. This combines the very clever Shade Shift game playthrough, and a 'Neurons & Synapses' visual depicting 'neuronal connections between the amygdala, which is responsible for emotions and feelings of fear'. I am very pleased with my edit so I hope you will give it a watch.

This album has been influenced by Tom of Niacinamide and his netlabel arrhythNia records. I set out trying to make something of my wild electronic glitchy noisy style for him, but since he has also played in bands in his time, the inclusion of the 4th track didn't seem so disparate. Also, since plenty of the releases on the page uses his photography for the cover art, I asked him to send me some photos of his to adapt (which then helped me hone further in on the concepts).
Thank you to all who stop by and open their mind to let the sounds in for (up to, but hopefully including) 48 minutes... and then, go check out
